Levenshulme
Manchester M19
Levenshulme is in South
Manchester, straddling the A6
Road from Manchester to
Stockport.
Levenshulme is also reachable
by train from Picadilly station,
Manchester. You could also get
one of many buses to
Levenshulme.
So what's it like living in Levenshulme? The best
of worlds and the worst of worlds.......

Levenshulme is a real, wonderful, mixed
community. We have a huge Irish Community.
We have a large Asian community. We have a
Caribean Community. An African one. Refugees
from Eastern Europe and other parts of the
world. Students from the university. Traditional
families from Levenshulme. Many young
families.

And praise God, we live together in peace,
everyone adding their particular styles to our
community, the rich tapestry which is
Levenshulme.

Levenshulme can be a difficult area to live in.
Many young people can be troubled and
resentful. Many older people live in fear. There
is too much crime. Too many drugs around.
Many people lived here for only a few weeks, in
temporary accomodation. Many people have
psychiatric and other health problems.

And I love it here.
We have great shops. We have the antiques
centre of Greater Manchester. We have
restaurants. Take aways. Tremendous schools.

The best of places and the worst of places. And I
don't want to be anywhere else!
